FM tuner

laktronics says...

Not long ago, I found an old, home made, perfectly working amplifier/fm-tuner, and I'm planning on making some changes to it. A lot of changes, actually. Among other things, I'm going to add the ability of remote control. Of course I'll need som motorized pots, and all that, but there is one thing I'm having troubles with.
There is a part attached to the tuner part, wich does the actual tuning. It has five presets, and these are chosen between with five push-buttons, which when pushed in, forces the one that's allready pushed in back out. It also has these plastic pieces pointing at imprinted frequencies. If I'm not mistaken, this is simply five trimmer-caps in a fancy wrapping. But this part is detachable with some desoldering, and would be very simple to replace. If only I knew what to look for.. I've been looking around the web, googling my brains out, but it's hard to find anything when you don't know it's name. I need a similar part, preferably with an LCD-display showing info like frequency, and with motorized trimmer-caps/some chip, with the ability of a few presets. All it would do is adjusting the capacitance. As the other part. It needs to be kind of compatible with the rest, so I don't have to get into rebuilding more than necessary..

Could any of you help me out here?

Thanx.

Hmm.. Bump!

easiest way is probably (ugh) PIC, controlling some sorta highly accurate tuning cap (what sort of motor......must be trackable......) and a display...................

i think its a bit over ambitious personally

for that matter, why not replace the entire tuning apparatus........
