Malfunctioning WT-550Kryten says... I've owned my WT-550 for 15 months or so now. I'm the second owner, the first, (Vinny), treated it really well, I'd say I have too. It's always worked perfectly. The last time I played it was for a realtively quiet song where I was pushing the amp less than I would in practice. It worked fine. Two days ago I set it up to play for the first time in almost a month, but as soon as I turned the amp on, the eq clip light came on and didn't go off. No sound came out of the amp, although I'm not sure I even waited long enough for that short warm up period to finish, I wanted that light to go off as soon as possible. There were no extreme eq or volume settings at the time. I tried a different power cable, swapped in a new tube - nothing. Today I tried it with headphones only. The same thing happened. I could not hear any bass through the headphones, or any other noise other than the swishy kind of sound my master knob has always made when turned. I'm not sure if this is always the case and I've never noticed it, but when the amp is on, it vibrates ever so slightly. So, anyone have any idea what might be wrong? Is my head totally screwed? I'll have to wait till tomorrow afternoon to give customer service a call and see what they have to say. Thanks, Jim "All the things that use to fix me, They don't fix me like the groove." -TOP MusicMan SR5 WT-550/410XLT pakitos says... Holy hell! VIBRATES? That's beyond anything I've read on these forums, or ever experienced with an amp, period!I'd say something in there is doing a VERY BAD THING. No magic smoke yet, though? Cuz I'm expecting you to tell me the smoke alarms went off in your house. Hell, it could be anything from a capacitor exploding inside to a wire touching something hot and melting back the insulation making it short out. Ibanez 5-stringers, UHF Wireless jallem says... Could the vibration be the fan running? Did you drop it or bump it hard? Did you try a new instrument cable? Does the clip light come on with no instrument cable or efx or tuner, or anything at all plugged into it?Quite simply, if you have nothing plugged into it, but the clip light comes on and wont go off when the gain is all the way down, it is a sick puppy and needs a tech. Is it still covered under the 2-year warranty? Dwight in Denver "Music is a life-long pursuit" WT550, WTX-260, EM-3, D210XST, D212XLT, D112XLT, N8 (On order) http://www.myspace.com/bassmandwight |
